Born in southern California, Lori Wylie’s first artistic talent emerged through music. Blessed with musical parents who encouraged her to move forward in the arts, she first pursued her love for the violin and piano. Moving to the Sacramento area when she was 12, Lori began designing, creating, and selling unique jewelry pieces. Lori attended California State University at Sacramento where, while teaching flute, and working towards her Bachelor’s in Music, she studied art history and played flute and piccolo in the Camellia Symphony Orchestra.
The years spent training in classical music and improvisational jazz prepared Lori for her journey in fine art. With no formal schooling in painting or metal work, she is self-taught. Her current medium is at turns challenging when things don’t go as planned, yet fulfilling when things come together. Intrigued by transparent and illusionary images inherent in waves, clouds, sun rays and other forms found in nature: the ever-changing beauty and complexity of creation provides an expansive foundation of inspiration for her work.
